Matthew Hektoen Presents at 2025 Advanced Commercial Leasing Institute in Washington, D.C.
Cedar Rapids, IA – April 24, 2025 – Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC is pleased to announce that Matthew Hektoen, a member in the firm’s real estate practice, served as a featured speaker at the 2025 Advanced Commercial Leasing Institute (ACLI), hosted by the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL). The event is taking place this week, April 23–25, 2025, at The Morrow Hotel in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Hektoen co-led a session titled “Are We Writing Them Right? Tenants' Future Rights” on Thursday, April 24. The session addressed the structuring and enforcement of rights of first offer (ROFOs) and rights of first refusal (ROFRs), including drafting challenges and remedies in the event of breach. He presented alongside co-panelists Hope Plasha and Marta Lewycky.
In addition to speaking, Mr. Hektoen serves on the ACLI Advisory Board, contributing to the development of the event’s curriculum and programming. The ACLI is an invitation-only event that brings together senior commercial leasing professionals for in-depth discussions of emerging legal issues and industry trends.
Mr. Hektoen’s legal practice centers on commercial real estate transactions, including leasing, development, and property acquisitions. He advises clients on a broad range of matters involving complex leasing arrangements and the interpretation of tenant and landlord rights.
