Nick AbouAssaly Gives Seventh State of the City Address
On Thursday, March 10, 2022, Marion Mayor Nick AbouAssaly gave his first in-person State of the City address since before the pandemic. This was Mr. AbouAssaly’s seventh State of the City address.
This year’s “full steam and progress ahead” message was all about growth in the community, including economic development, housing, and efforts to make equity and inclusion a priority for the city team. “We’re no longer talking about the need to reach higher,” AbouAssaly said of the city’s slogan. “We are reaching higher and achieving more as a community. We’re no longer dreaming about a better Marion; we’re living it and everything we’re doing is not for its own sake, but to see Marion and the people who live here thrive.”
