Nick AbouAssaly Presents 10th Marion State of the City Address
Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC was proud to support real estate attorney and Marion Mayor Nick AbouAssaly as he delivered his 10th State of the City address to a packed crowd of over 630 people at the DoubleTree by Hilton Convention Center in Cedar Rapids on Tuesday.
This year’s theme, "Building a Premier Community," highlighted the growth and transformation that Marion has experienced over the past ten years and addressed the upcoming projects for the future. He emphasized how prioritizing quality of life and quality of place has made Marion a standout community and a destination for people and businesses. "The seemingly impossible has become possible, and the positive energy has become contagious,” Mayor AbouAssaly said.
Since 2014, Marion has grown to become Iowa’s thirteenth largest city, with a population increase of 16%, going from 37,000 to 43,000 residents. In the past year alone, 677 new families have chosen to call Marion home, coming from 35 different states and six different countries.
Mayor AbouAssaly reinforced Marion’s promise to be the best place in Iowa to raise a family and grow a business, stating, "We are an important piece of that puzzle and what makes this region so amazing and an attractive place for people and for businesses to locate"..."The work we have done up until now is only setting the stage. We are just at the beginning, about to take off."
