Attorney Paul Morf Appointed to the Linn County Conservation Board
Attorney Paul Morf has been appointed to the Linn County Conservation Board by the Linn County Board of Supervisors. Paul will serve a five-year term with four other appointed members.
The Linn County Conservation Board was established in 1958. The role of the Board is to provide general oversight and make policy decisions to direct the conservation program. The Board serves to protect natural resources; promote health and wellness; strengthen safety and security: support economic development; increase environmental awareness; provide outdoor recreational experiences; foster human development; and strengthen community image and sense of place.
Paul has led the firm’s estate planning practice group for 20 years and is a founding member and president of the Iowa Academy of Trust and Estate Counsel. He works with business owners, farmers, and high net worth families on tax-sensitive estate and business succession planning and particularly enjoys working with conservation-minded Iowans on projects related to private land trusts, conservation easements, and other vehicles to protect the non-economic value of Iowa’s wild places.
The Linn County Conservation Board is a natural fit for Paul, whose other board affiliations include the Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation and the Nature Conservancy’s Iowa Board of Trustees. Paul served as President of the Indian Creek Nature Center’s board of directors over 20 years ago, and has protected part of his Linn County property with a conservation easement.
“I believe that attorneys have a civic responsibility to give back to our communities by serving on non-profit and governmental boards. When my children were young, I spent seven years on the Mount Vernon School Board. Now that they are grown, this is a great way for me to plug into the community in a way that matters to me. I look forward to helping enhance and preserve Linn County’s wild places, enhancing and expanding our county trails and parks, and preserving biodiversity at a local level, for my children and for future generations of Linn County residents”.
