SPMB Welcomes Attorney Ryan Shellady
Simmons Perrine Moyer Bergman PLC is pleased to welcome attorney Ryan Shellady to the firm. Ryan is a general litigation attorney with a focus in family law. He has a wealth of experience helping families navigate difficult circumstances and is passionate about connecting with his clients while providing sound, pragmatic legal advice.
Prior to joining the firm, he served as a domestic relations attorney for a mid-sized family law firm in Colorado. Additional experience came while serving as an associate for a Des Moines firm and as a law clerk at The Family Defense Center in Chicago, IL. Ryan has also volunteered for Kids First Law Clinic, providing workshops for children whose parents are going through divorce.
Ryan has deep roots in the Corridor; he was raised in Washington and Johnson Counties and attended school at Mid-Prairie in Wellman, IA before ultimately graduating from Iowa City City High School. He earned his undergraduate degree, with high distinction in ethics and public policy from the University of Iowa. He then earned his J.D., with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law in 2019.
During law school, Ryan participated on the National Moot Court team and was published in Vol. 104 Issue 3 (2018) of the Iowa Law Review. His law review note was recently quoted in The New York Times Magazine. Ryan was also awarded the prestigious Bergstrom Child Welfare Law Fellowship from the University of Michigan Law School Child Advocacy Clinic.
